Gleision Mine Incident - 15th September 2011
As you are no doubt aware, Mines Rescue Service Ltd has been heavily involved in the incident at Gleision Colliery in the Swansea Valley. The Service worked tirelessly in the multi-agency operation to rescue the four trapped miners. The tragic outcome was not what we had hoped for and our thoughts and prayers are with the families and community in South Wales. We could not have done more.
We would also like to thank the South Wales Fire & Rescue Service, USAR teams, Paramedics and South Wales Police for their support during this harrowing event. Without them we would have been stretched to the limit.
Special thanks to the South Wales Cave Rescue Divers – what an incredible effort in very trying conditions.
