Enclosed Space Rescue

Rescue from Enclosed Spaces is a highly specialised procedure. The mines rescue service uses its 100 years of experience, alongside today’s most up-to-date intensive training program on-board new and old ships, to provide a ‘best practice’ and effective safety service to the Marine Industry. We specialise in rescue techniques connected with every type of Enclosed Space situation and can provide Enclosed Space Rescue Courses that can be tailored to the individual requirements of your company.

Since the establishment of Mines Rescue Marine, we have worked with a number of differing ships, from Destroyers to Cable Layers dealing with  Enclosed Space problems. We exercise, advise and demonstrate the required techniques applicable to the type of vessel and Enclosed Space problems encountered on board.

To assist with in house training, we have designed a module ship tank system. Each training course provides successful delegates with certificated competence to combat a variety of hazardous and emergency situations.

To that end we have compiled an intensive 3 day in house course which is designed to develop the ability of delegates’ to rescue or evacuate personnel who may be trapped, injured or overcome in Enclosed Spaces.

Further to that, hands-on training in all relevant types of self contained breathing apparatus and associated rescue equipment, including tripods, fall arrest, winching arrangements, rescue stretchers, oxygen resuscitation, gas monitoring equipment and on site first aid are an essential part of the course. It is suggested that initial training should be undertaken in our specially designed ship tank system into which smoke and heat can be introduced under controlled conditions, while video filming is used for debriefing.

Periodic refresher training may be carried out either at our in house training facility or on board your ship or platform where suitable facilities can be made available.
